Project Update - Lord Commander Eidolon

I actually got some more painting done yesterday!

Naturally Lyro (my smaller cat) wanted company so we had to sit and paint together.

I got some more paint on Eidolon. Still a long way to go but I've almost blocked out the colours.

Ive gone for a pretty standard theme. Gold trim is a pain - or rather it was until I opened my new gold and suddenly it worked - still have some tidying up to do before washes/highlights etc.

Ive gone for a black pad on the right. It will have silver studs on the gold rim and the III symbol. Laurels will be white to tie in with the laurels on his chest and his hair.

What do you guys think? Im hoping to get this finished tomorrow so look out for an update then!

Project Update - Lord Commander Eidolon

Step up Brother Handro, I'm in the lead (with my one model...)

I spent some of this afternoon starting to block out some of the colours on this guy, as well as tidying up the purple/adding a wash.

It is quite a nice kit to paint, although some of the recessed areas are difficult to access. I like the additon of black to the standard purple/white/gold theme the IIIrd have going on. I try to use the black panels to represent the more corrupted areas of the legion, whilst the palatine blades and the purer sections tend to get some silver panel work.

I also made some progress on his base. I want it to be worn, rusted and ruined to contrast the pure brilliance and perfection of Eidolon (Der H:"A difficult task with my painting skill"). It needs to dry and be drybrushed with silver to finish it off but now it has magnets it is nearly there!

Project - Lord Commander Eidolon

I am now enthused and engaged with this blog!

The ETL from 2016 was great fun and I proudly wear my signature banner as a reminder that (on occasion) I do get things finished.

It also made me go through and see how long I had owned certain models in my IIIrd Legion army and actually get them finished. Palatine Blades and Phoenix Guard terminators are the best examples of this phenomenon; I LOVE the models, I love the sculpts, I even love the rules! But they sat for so long unpainted and unloved.

Lord commander Eidolon shares this heritage! A beautiful model, I bought it as soon as he was released. But Since then....nothing...

Here is where my Lord Commander sits at present:

In my defence....no I actually cant finish that...He is magnetised, and even has purple on him but this is the month...this is the month that I finish the great Lord Commander of the IIIrd Legion once and for all!
