Warhammer community live stream - new stuff!
What a preview! I made a point of watching this for the Titan reveal, but was pleasantly surprised by the content! Lets do the Titan first!
Adeptus Titanicus
This chonky boi is the Warmaster titan. Larger than the Warlord, it is HUGE. the weapons are described as:
Two Suzerain-pattern Plasma Destructors
Revelator Missile Launcher
Ardex Defensor Cannons
Lascannon Knees! - The strange look of this reflects the old Jes Goodwin art - see below!
Scale-wise, Warhammer Community include this image, and suggested it is not far off the size of 28mm knights - Chonky Boi indeed!
The new book, closely followed by its traitor equivalent, covers 16 titan legions and 12 knight houses that are loyal to the Imperium. (Der H: “Boooooo!”)
Power creep aside, the inclusion of this bad boy is likely in each of our legios. A single Warmaster, two Warlords, and the rabble that follow will have a nice symmetry I suppose! I dare say the Loyalist Legios book will be bought….after all, House Mortimer are loyalists….
40k - Kill team & Sisters of Battle
After the hype of 9th edition, and a hastily bought Indomitus box, Der H’s Necrons have been relegated to a black basecoated mass in a box in a cupboard (Brother Handro: “Oh…the one with the sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the leopard’). But now, they can have some friends!
The box looks great, some nice Necron models in there, and some Intercessors that can…..sit unbuilt…forever…
The Flayed Ones were never my cup of chai, but they do look nice, and the box combined with terrain might make a good entry point for newer players! with Kill Team as a gateway purchase….oh G’dubs you smart old bean!
Fantasy and the Cursed City
So alas, the Old World and Mordheim did not re-appear…but a new Warhammer Quest has been announced, and Underworlds saw some gorgeous sculpts that might even be usable in the Grim Dark of 30k!
I didnt really feel drawn into the main AoS section, but the vampires and the Cursed City really tugged at my coat tails! The new totally-not-Mordheim box might be an interesting way to get into….well…Mordheim….if only I could tempt a certain person…then I can spend my time building fantasy houses…..(Brother Handro: “and dropping them down the stairs….”)
And that is it for the Preview! Some amazing reveals, one of which will get bought pretty sharpish (Brother Handro: “Paint. Your. Damn. TITANS!!!”), and some which we might just dodge…
Forgebane - ouch...my wallet...
[Brother Handro: "We don't really do news...do we?"]
[Der H: "Quiet! I'm having fun!"]
So...this has happened! Both Brother Handro and I missed out of the glory that was Knight Renegade, and as such I have bought nearly every boxed game since!
[Brother Handro: "<Cough> Death Watch <Cough>"]
We are both Necro-curious....not like that...and of course the Ad Mech/Knights combo is hard to resist.
The contents look pretty good to be honest, and several blog sites have already bandied around estimated costs. For my part, even at the estimated upper end of £100, this is a bargain....and one I will be snaffling up pretty sharp-ish!
House Mortimer anyone....

Quote of the day: Praise be! The Star Children deliver us
New Year, New Start!
Happy New Year!
This year will be better, harder, faster, stronger...maybe!
Lots of crap the last few months but, now that is behind me, the Hobby Butterflies can rise again!
No pledge today - that will follow - just a hearty cheers, and a weather eye to 2018!
Happy New Year and keep your eyes open!

Necromunda announcement!
I know, I know...we aren't a news site, but I am super excited about this!
I previously discussed Necromunda here in detail, and guesstimated a release date of November - looks like the rumour was right!
The team at warhammer community have released a post covering the new game in a little more detail.
The first detail is that it is released in November - enough time to get at least SOME of the other projects done!
The core set has a few surprises and a few clarifications to previous uncertainties .
Templates seem to be present - this is interesting in and of itself. The game is, reportedly, based in 8th Edition. 8th Edition, famously, did away with templates but clearly that is changed in this game. Likely due to the game being character based rather than unit based I imagine.
Terrain is good to see! Andy mentioned in our chat that there was no plastic terrain in the box but that it was 'ready to play', quite why I/we didn't think of ALL of the other boxed releases with their printed card stock tiles I do not know (Brother Handro: "Your mind is going soft!" ). The tiles look pretty modular/interchangeable - shame it isn't multi-level but that can be a future project when I buy some MDF terrain/sector mechanicum terrain!
I can't help. It notice the Zone Mortalis similarities in there tiles - boarding actions ho!
Gangs are as expected, with a nice clarification from GW with them confirming that " both these gangs will be full, multi-part kits, with an enormous level of customisation".
They go on to details the inclusion of "Chen weapons" for Escher and industrial machinery for Goliaths - exciting times.
The scope and detail look truly inspiring, they even mention each ganger having options including " grenades, gas masks, additional armour and even modular hairstyles".
Whatever the cost, I imagine this will sell like hot cakes and no doubt the Hobby Butterflies will be investing in a few sets!
Roll on November!!

Looking forward to the open day!
Ah the Forge World Open Day! We go every year and usually come back with armfuls of resin goodness and a thousand photographs which sit unpublished on my computer!
Not any more!
This year The Hobby Butterflies will be attending as usual, but we shall be publishing pictures of our discoveries, news of our purchases, and summaries of the conversations with the FW design team.
A butterflies worst Nightmare
The FWOD is a day where, placed in WHW with a credit card, I ponder the multitude of choices in front of me.
The list of things I could buy is big this year! (Handro: Speak for yourself!) I clearly need to get Ixion Hale! I have 2x5 custodes on sprue and think Ixion is the man to join them into a cohesive fighting force - In my head that means it is a project which is all bought, and jsut needs building and painting....easy right!
The new Blood Ravens character we all know and love from the Dawn of War series finally takes physical form and is, of course, very tempting also! I haven't decided on my 40k marines/Primaris yet and the Blood Ravens would be a mighty fine option...alternatively, it is a gorgeous model that can be carved up as needed - see my upcoming look back at my conversion of the Primus Medicae!
I also like the look of the three new Sicaran variants - two of the three we have already seen! The Arcus is my favourite and is already up for pre-order; it certainly looks like the plasma variant will be available on the day too!
The above are all, of course, known about and already available - what new stuff will we see? Well it looks like we have news on that too!
Clearly Custodes is the theme!
The aquilon pattern terminators are gorgeous models! I am undecided between the two variants although the infernus firepikes certainly have the nostalgia factor. Considering the size/on table power these guys have £49 isn't too bad really.
The sisters upgrade set is also nice, I have 5 sisters, and another five would be a nice addition with this upgrade set - not too high on my list though.
We can see the two Sicaran variants top right - the omega looks a little off at first glance - Ill need to get my eyes/hands on it directly I suppose.
The dropship is VERY nice! I know that my good buddy Handro has some views on the new custodes line of vehicles but this is a nice touch - Although for that money a Lancer comes first!
Adding to the IIIrd
I keep threatening to add to my IIIrd legion boys - Fulgrim and some more Phoenix guard terminators would be very pretty! As would a Stormeagle to fly them around in!
I keep threatening to buy a Lancer too...one day...
Circles-within-circles
The XXth legion are everywhere! I have several parts (including Autilon Skorr) lined up for a potential XXth Legion project and keep meaning to pick up some XXth parts.....is this weekend the weekend?
Things to look out for this Sunday!
- Our live postings from the FWOD!
- Necromunda/specialist games news
- Titanicus (surely due some news now!)
- news for the next black book (Bangles and Dangles!!)
- 30k 7th Ed rules book
- Valdor?
- new models!
- A bag full of grey stuff to add to the list.
We will probably do a hobby day "live stream" on the monday, with pictures and an updating blog post during that day of our hobby progress!
