A month that matters…
This month is a big one - each of the Butterflies has a pretty hefty To-Do list ahead of Company of Legends March 2022 - Fall of Angels Redux, and one Butterfly in particular will bite off more than he can chew…..again…

Totally not stolen from my put-off Word Bearers drop list, this baby should mean my dual-fist dread may actually do something for a change…
2) VOLKITE SUPPORT SQUAD
A filler unit for the Zone Mortalis requirement, but a longstanding idea for me…assault weapons and chain axes! Chaaaaarge!…
3) JETBIKE PRAETOR & COMMAND SQUAD
Who doesn't like jetbikes? Not not me, that’s who. (Der H: What?) These boys are another long-term project, (Der H: Ah, the fabled Blue Scars list) and with the boss and 1 extra bike making the list, the time was right to get them done.

1) Finish the Legion Xiphon
Ok, not a huge start, its basically done with transfers etc…just a bit more weathering, and some oils….can do that…
2) Primaris Lightning Strike Fighter
Ok….this is a bit more involved. This year I really need to get all my flyers painted (Brother Handro: “No! Youve become one of them!”) and after the Xiphon its the turn of the Lightning. Ive gone with magnets for the weapons, and realistically it’s between Phosphex Bombs and Kraken Penetrators….a mixture shall suffice!
3) Cataphractii Legion Librarian
Inspired to finish my conversion started over two years ago, by the amazing work of Andy Hoare, Ive strarted putting more paint to this chap. A bit of flesh work, some golds and he isnt far off…just a little nudge and we’re done!
4) 5 Cataphractii Legion Terminators
Now we’re starting to get silly - these have been bought and built specifically for this upcoming event. They’re in the optional (and possible never used) ZM force, and are designed to go with and bubble around the Librarian above. Stacked with chainfists and combi-plasma all round, they’re sacrificing the Emperors Children sweeping advance bonus for gunning down anything they can before calmly mulching them with chain fists….I hope.
5) 5 Tartaros Lightning Claw Terminators
There are a longer standing back burner unit. They came in a job-lot bundle of plastic some time ago as 8 dual lightning and one reaper autocannon terminators. I scrabbled around for some parts and now have a nice round 10. They’re only being half painted this time as, once again, this is part of the ZM force that will, inevitably, not get used!
6) 15 MKii Assault Marines, with MKii Apothecary
These 3D prints are partially for this event, and part for the Return to Isstvan event next month. Designed to be a loyalist assault squad, theyre getting their first baptism of fire as traitors….loyalties are muddy in 30k right! Im hoping to rely on the Book 1 Betrayal colour plates for these guys - if you look carefully you’ll spot some palatine helmets - these are a custom build by me on 3D builder!
7) 3 Militia/Krieg Rapier Laser Destroyers
These have been hanging around for a little while. Anther digital kitbash by me, and one Im quite proud of, they’ve been neglected for some time. The plan is that they’re a bit of extra anti armour for the militia in an upcoming version 2 of my Sacrifical offering RoW. Fingers crossed they pull their weight!
8) Bonus points!
I said, just last month infact, that I was going to paint a non-GW miniature each month (such as Arcworlde, Blood and Plunder, Oak and Iron, Bolt Action…..) For this month i dont think I’ll get around to it, but (if I do!) im going to have a bash at a single small monster like the unithorn….lets not hold our breath!
